Casanova is a highly productive indeterminate tomato known for its striking long fruits with a split tip. With good care, yields can reach up to 12 kg per square metre, and the plants hang heavily with bright red, uniform fruits. Each tomato is dense in both skin and flesh, with very few seeds and a distinctly sweet flavour. The fruits store well, travel well and hold their commercial quality for a long time after harvest.
Though officially classified as a salad tomato, growers praise Casanova for pickling: the firm skin resists cracking when hot brine is added, and the elongated shape fits neatly into jars.
